PADI Advanced open water certificate, or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. This is defined as proof of certification beyond entry level (at least two certifications total).
Proof of 20 or more logged dives documenting experience in deep diving and underwater navigation
Completion of a PADI sanctioned CPR first aid program within the past 24 months
First aid for DCI & marine injuries, rescue equipment consideration & usage, distress recognition, self rescue, transportation of patients, missing submerged diver rescue and in water artificial respiration
Below is a typical schedule:
Session 1: Full day in classroom for knowledge reviews and taking exams
Session 2: Pool session to learn and practice all the new rescue skills you will need to complete the course
Session 3: Dives 1 & 2. Now the real action begins, as you practice your rescue skills and scenarios in an open water environment
Session 4: Dives 3 & 4. Your final dives will bring all the individual skills & mini scenarios you learned together into one simulated emergency rescue situation from beginning to end with you serving in several different roles; Directing the incident response, helping a more qualified diver and as an in water rescuer.
Regarded as the most rewarding and fun of all PADI diver courses, the rescue diver course emphasizes how to foresee & prevent potential dive related accidents before they happen, not just how to react to them.
By the end of the course you will have expanded your knowledge of diving, increased your level of diving skill and be more aware of what is happening in the diving environment. Most importantly, rescue training can help you to save lives and increase dive safety.
